May 15, 2018, Yerevan: The Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs with great pride informs that on May 8 upon the decree of Armen Sarkissian, president of the Republic of Armenia, AIISA associate fellow Gevorg Melikyan was appointed assistant and press secretary.

Gevorg Melikyan is an associate fellow in AIISA’s Political Developments & Security Programme, political analyst and political scientist with considerable individual, academic and professional experience in foreign, security and domestic politics. Melikyan is a specialist on Armenia’s foreign policy, NK conflict, Caucasian policy of the EU and Turkey, one of qualified representatives of Armenia’s analytical and expert community.   

He is a member of Analytical Council at RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, also a member of the Black Sea Regional Expert Network (Austria).

Gevorg Melikyan holds a MA in Political Science (sub-field: International Relations) with a focus on security issues, alliance formations, and conflict resolution from Ohio University. He worked at Carnegie Endowment (Washington), as well as at CSIS analytical center. He was head of French department of European Regional Academy. Prior to that, he graduated from the French-English department, Yerevan State Linguistic University. He holds a number of international certificates and awards, and was invited as a guest speaker to numerous international and local conferences, seminars and roundtables.

Gevorg is an author of numerous articles and researches, he is fluent in English, French and Russian.
