The Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs (AIISA) and the Center for International Strategic Analyses (KEDISA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step towards strengthening institutional cooperation between Armenia and Greece in international relations, security studies, strategic research and public policy.
The agreement, signed by Mr. Styopa Safaryan, Founder and Director of AIISA, and Dr. Andreas G. Banoutsos, Founder and President of KEDISA, establishes a framework for a long-term strategic partnership based on mutual respect, reciprocity and shared values.
Recognising the longstanding friendship between Armenia and Greece, as well as the growing importance of cooperation in an increasingly complex international environment, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to promoting dialogue, knowledge exchange and joint initiatives addressing regional and global challenges.
The partnership will focus on several key areas of cooperation, including:
· Joint research and policy analysis in international relations, defence, security, European affairs, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence governance, energy security and migration.
· Publication of joint research papers, policy briefs, reports and strategic assessments.
· Organisation of international conferences, seminars, workshops, webinars and expert roundtables.
· Exchange of researchers, experts, fellows and young professionals.
· Development of joint European and international projects, including opportunities under Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and other EU funding programmes.
· Promotion of youth leadership, diplomatic training and professional capacity-building initiatives.
As part of their cooperation, AIISA and KEDISA also intend to explore the establishment of several flagship initiatives, including an Annual Armenia–Greece Strategic Dialogue, an Armenia–Greece Policy Series, a Young Policy Leaders Network, and an Eastern Mediterranean–South Caucasus Policy Forum.
These initiatives aim to facilitate closer interaction between policymakers, academics, researchers, diplomatic representatives and civil society organisations, while encouraging informed discussions on developments affecting both countries and their wider regions.
The Memorandum of Understanding provides an initial two-year framework, with provisions for automatic renewal, reflecting the shared intention to develop a sustainable and productive institutional relationship.
Through this partnership, AIISA and KEDISA seek to contribute to the further development of Armenia–Greece relations, strengthen connections between their respective research and policy communities, and promote constructive dialogue on European, regional and international affairs.
Both institutions express their confidence that this cooperation will create valuable opportunities for joint research, strategic dialogue and meaningful collaboration, further reinforcing the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Armenia and Greece.
